PROGRAMMES
Five programmes. One weave.
AI&U moves learners from first exposure to real certificates, real work experience and community-owned opportunity.
FROM FIRST SPARK TO REAL WORK
Each programme stands alone, but the full strength is in the weave.
The journey starts with mass AI exposure, then moves into devices, accredited learning, community hubs and real-world capstone work. Learners leave with more than inspiration — they leave with proof.
PROGRAMME 01
Mass participation
Hour of AI

A one-hour guided AI literacy activation where every learner builds something practical — a chatbot, an image classifier, or a small generative project.

The flagship national activation is anchored on 16 June 2026 under the campaign Let Their Fingers Do The Talking.

PROGRAMME 02
Access first
Devices for Children

AI literacy is impossible without devices. This programme places refurbished laptops into no-fee schools and turns access into a practical pathway.

Launch target: 1,000 refurbished laptops across approximately 40 no-fee schools by 16 June 2026.

PROGRAMME 03
Accredited pathways
QCTO Level 5 qualifications

Delivered through Centenary Networks under QCTO accreditation No. 07-QCTO/SDP120426174903.

Two NQF Level 5 pathways anchor the work: Software Developer — OFO 118707, 220 credits; and Artificial Intelligence Software Developer — OFO 118792, 209 credits.

PROGRAMME 04
Community infrastructure
Regional Hubs

Each regional hub is a multi-purpose community asset: AI&U classroom by day, career centre after school, and entrepreneurial learning space on weekends.

Phase 1 sites include Soshanguve in Gauteng and Kathu in the Northern Cape.

PROGRAMME 05
Portfolio proof
Capstone Projects

Every cohort closes with a real digital product built for a local business, school or NGO.

Capstones are presented to corporate partners and judged by panels that include funder representatives. Graduates leave with a portfolio, a network and a certificate.

WHY IT WORKS

Programmes designed as one ecosystem.

Exposure

Hour of AI gives every learner a first real touchpoint with building, not just consuming, technology.

Pathways

Devices and accredited learning convert inspiration into formal skills, certificates and work readiness.

Ownership

Hubs and capstones root the learning inside communities, where local leadership can keep the work alive.
